Picture It: The Diverse Possibilities of Graphic Novel Literature

April 4, 2013

Picture It The Diverse Possibilities of Graphic Novel Literature. (2011). Young Adult Library Services, 9(4), 24-26.

Picture It The Diverse Possibilities of Graphic Novel Literature discusses graphic novel literature and provides examples of books that provide a variety of creative expression, use other visual resources and allow for multiple narratives. Graphic novel literature such as “Picture This,” “The Museum Vaults,” and “The Glacial Period” are examples that imaginatively use fine art to tell a story. The article states that graphic novel literature can be an effective form of parody, as well as expanding well known narratives with rich visual images. Graphic novel literature can also show teenagers how sequential art works, and can be used to encourage them to create and post their own work on the internet.
