Gettysburg: The Graphic Novel by C.M. Butzer

April 3, 2013

Gettysburg-The Graphic NovelPerhaps one of Abraham Lincoln’s most familiar speeches is now available in a captivating visual depiction. This graphic novel by Civil War expert, C.M. Butzer, illustrates the Battle of Gettysburg, the desire to build a memorial there and Lincoln’s stirring speech on that solemn day in 1863. The most fascinating aspect of this work is that Butzer used only primary sources for the text, drawing from personal diaries, letters, Lincoln’s own writings and other historical documents.
